Water District of the Week: Anaheim Public Utilities

This week’s Water District of the Week is the City of Anaheim’s very own Anaheim Public Utilities. A Southern California water district for the people, and by the people, Anaheim Public Utilities is serious about a commitment to saving water.

On the city of Anaheim’s public utilities website, there is a sizable section on “Home Efficiency Incentives,” including “green” power option, fee waivers, various suggestions on how best to shrink water bills, and specific rebates, including rebates for “smart” sprinkler controllers. With all of these helpful suggestions on how to save water and shrink the water bill, it’s no surprise that

Anaheim residents enjoy rates that are among the lowest in California, with electric rates averaging 25 to 40 percent lower than in neighboring cities and water rates that are among the lowest of the 33 agencies serving water to other Orange County communities,”

according to Anaheim Public Utilities. At Cyber-Rain, we always applaud water districts that encourage their service area customers to conserve water resources. When saving water, we all win. Anaheim Public Utilities offers rebates for customers who invest in a “SmarTimer,” or as we fondly refer to it, a smart sprinkler controller. APU lists just some of the benefits to purchasing such a smart controller, such as the money savings “by reducing your outdoor water use by up to 25 percent,” the green impact of helping to “protect the environment by reducing runoff by as much as 45 percent,” and the aesthetic element, as this technology provides for the benefit of improving “the health and appearance of your landscape.”

The usual rebate program provides a rebate of $20 “per activated valve”; however, Anaheim Public Utilities is currently offering a $60 rebate for every activated valve. This program is part of the wider one for Southern California users. Further information can be found with our old friend, BeWaterWise.

Cyber-Rain welcomes Anaheim residents to take a look at the great services he have to offer; we’d love to help you save water, improve your lawn and help you turn your lawn just a little more green… in more ways than one!
