As we approach a new week and a new year, let’s reflect on some helpful tips on how to make the coming year a water savvy year!

Our old friends at BeWaterWise offer many, many tips on how to be more water-conscious, both inside and outside of the home. At Cyber-Rain, we celebrate such helpful tips, and and encourage all to help conserve water in whatever convenient ways possible. According to the MWD, homeowners can save 40 gallons of water EVERY DAY after installing a smart sprinkler controller (such as Cyber-Rain)! (Estimates of water savings range, with at least 40 gallons being saved, according to the MWD, and other organizations have given higher monthly and annual estimates.) The MWD/BeWaterWise also offers some great rebates for those who purchase smart sprinkler controllers like Cyber-Rain. Did you know there is an E-Newsletter from the Metropolitan Water District, with all kinds of fun and informative tips? More on that later!

According to the MWD, simple maintenance can also save hundreds of gallons of water every month.  Just checking “your sprinkler system for leaks, overspray and broken sprinkler heads” can save an estimated 500 gallons of water per month. Mulch is also another great way to save water – we’ll discuss that and other handy household tips soon!
