How Do You Save Water?
How are you conserving water this Smart Irrigation Month? We’ve received some great examples of ways users are conserving water this summer, and we’ll start with user Fabienne! Fabienne saves water on a daily basis by recycling water, dividing up water needs and minimizing water waste with simple yet clever tricks.
Fabienne saves shower water in her bath tub, and recycles that water by using a bucket to flush her toilet with the used water.
Outside, Fabienne uses two gallons of her shower water to wash her car. Fabienne pours one gallon of the shower water on her car little by little while sponging the dirt right off. The second gallon of water is used to rinse the car. Fabienne then immediately dries the car witha cloth to avoid streaks. Fabienne ends up with a streak-free, clean car, without wasting any water! This accounts for quite a bit of water savings, versus the 77 gallons of water which many driveway car washings consume!
Fabienne also extends her water-saving habits to the kitchen. When getting ready to clean dishes in the kitchen, Fabienne uses two different containers, one of which has “soapy water” and the other has “rinsing water.” By using this creative system, Fabienne has no need to “turn on the water anymore.” Way to go, Fabienne!
